Troy is in his mid 20’s and lives at home with his family and wanted to break into the property market.  His first purchase was with his mother using the family home as security and therefore a deposit was not needed.  As the property was for investment he didn’t qualify for the First Home Owner’s Grant or Stamp Duty Exemption, however, the equity he has built up in this property by far outweighs the funds he would have received from the Grant.  Troy and his mother have since gone on and purchased another 2 properties and as the rental income almost covers payments Troy still enjoys his life without financial worry looking to a future with a healthy portfolio.
